i phoned my mum last night to enquire if my missionary-elder .
I showed her about the society's UN involvement, but thought "they must have had a good reason".
That is the standard response. I have a kind of friend (who seems to be growing distant - wonder why ) who will not even take the time to read any literature that is seen to attack the ever so precious WTBS.

It's pretty much like JCannon - the WTBS will ALWAYS find a set of scriptures attempting to prove that they are God's only channel. Pathetic.
sincere pardons if this is posted here elsewhere and previously.. i received a copy of "jehovah in the new testament" from www.tetragrammaton.org.. the booklet's argument is that whereas "yahweh" or "jehovah" belongs in the old testament, because it is clearly there in the ancient texts, it does not belong in the new testament.. because there is not one ancient greek new testament manuscript that has "jehovah" in the text, only "lord.".
this is so obvious and irrefutable that it is silly for the new world translation to continue on with this theological mistake.
besides, in many passages where "jehovah" appears in the nwt new testament, it is simply jarring, out of place, and/or misleading.. actually, use of "jehovah" in the new testament distorts the meaning of the words of the apostles, and confuses the fact that "men ought to honor the son as they do the father.
The very spirit and emphasis of the New Testament writings honour Jesus Christ above any other name. That simple fact only really struck home about 6 months ago fully. I had suspected, but chose to ignore, due to my former indoctrination by the WTBS.

Well, when I speak to two friends who support the society still, they both talk 80% of the time about Jehovah and maybe 20% of the time about Jesus. How ungrateful by not refering to God's gift to men a little more eh?
They argue that Jesus always honoured God in speech. Well that may be so in places, but mans obligation as a Christian is to honour Jesus before God. Well, that's the way I read it.

The culture underpinning this country of ours is one driven for the main part by selfishness. This at a very basic level manifests itself in key areas like respect for the land and property of others.
There is a festering underbelly to this land that is eroding sound values.
I've felt it for years, from the late 1970s onwards. Even as a child the subtle shift in attitude became tangible. There is definitely more division and less love amongst the people in my own experience.

Not really, I see what you are saying though. The argument asserted excludes the creator. That particular lobby support the idea of the physical universe that surrounds us being created, not God.

and i'm starting to realize its not just what the dubs teach that seem coincidental.
its what the bible shares.

I accept that there may have been exceptions to my previous assertion according to your understanding, but on the whole I stand by what I say. The wave of technology we now take for granted has produced a series of hideous by-products. Surely you agree with me there? I would not like to lose my internet connection or gadgets, but I would be willing to drop them tomorrow to help benefit the bigger picture if it became viable to do so. I am only able to help support myself within this society at present via this PC due to health issues.

I understand what you say though about meeting with a person and am glad that you found common ground with six. This faceless form of communication can cause unnecessary grief at times for some.
